Telnexus setup for Polycom IP 5000

These instructions start with the Polycom IP 5000 already booted up with an IP address and is idle. Please be patient, as the IP 5000 boot cycle can take up to 2 full minutes. If the phone cannot boot please call Telnexus at (510) 859-7000 for assistance.

This procedure will take you about 20 minutes and will involve multiple reboots of the IP 5000, which is slow.

Set the Provisioning Server Type to HTTP

  1. Press the Menu key.
  2. Press 3 for Settings.
  3. Press 2 for Advanced.
  4. Enter the Admin password and press the Enter softkey, default = 456.
  5. Press 1 for Admin Settings.
  6. Press 1 for Network Config.
  7. Use the arrow pad and press Down Arrow until the cursor is on Server Menu. Press the Select softkey.
  8. Use the up and down Arrow Keys to select Server Type.
  9. Press the Edit softkey to select the Server Type field.
  10. Select HTTP using the left and right arrow keys.
  11. Press the OK softkey.
  12. Press the Menu key to exit.
  13. Press Yes softkey to Save Config (if prompted). The phone will then reboot.

Set the Provisioning Server Address to P.K.TNXS.NET

  1. Press the Menu key.
  2. Press 3 for Settings.
  3. Press 2 for Advanced.
  4. Enter the Admin password and press the Enter soft key, default = 456.
  5. Press 1 for Admin Settings.
  6. Press 1 for Network Config.
  7. Use the arrow pad and press Down Arrow until the cursor is on Server Menu. Press the Select softkey.
  8. Use the up and down Arrow Keys to select the current Server Address.
  9. Press the Edit softkey softkey to edit the Server Address field.
  10. Enter “P.K.TNXS.NET” with no quotes. Use repeated presses of number keys 1 – 9 to enter letters. Press the asterisk (*) key to select periods (dots). Use the << softkey to erase.
  11. Press the OK softkey.
  12. Press the Menu key to exit.
  13. Press Yes softkey to Save Config (if prompted). The phone should automatically reboot. If not, proceed to the next step.

How to reboot the IP 5000

  1. Press the Menu key.
  2. Press 3 for Settings.
  3. Press 2 for Advanced.
  4. Enter the Admin password and press the Enter softkey, default = 456.
  5. Press 3 for Reboot Phone.
  6. Press the Yes softkey.

The phone will automatically reboot and acquire its configuration from the Telnexus provisioning servers. If this is the first time using the provisioning system the phone will likely load new firmware and reboot several times.
